The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving the educational success of individuals with disabilities and/or gifts and talents. CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides professional development, advocates for individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice.

Digital Promise Research Map is an exciting website that helps education leaders, policymakers, and technology developers quickly access education and learning science research findings that can inform their work. The map was built using data from over 100,000 articles published between 2007 and 2016, found in 184 academic journals from the Web of Science database.

The CDE's Special Education Division provides information and resources to serve the unique needs of persons with disabilities so that each person will meet or exceed high standards of achievement in academic and nonacademic skills.
California Services for Technical Training and Assistance (CalSTAT) provides evidence-based resources and training priority areas, publications and symposiums.
The California Department of Education (CDE) Clearinghouse for Specialized Media and Translations (CSMT) produces accessible versions of textbooks, workbooks and literature books adopted by the State Board of Education. Products and services are provided pursuant to California law, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 
, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) , and Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
In 2015, a Statewide Special Education Task Force produced a report calling for one integrated system of public education that ensures students with disabilities receive effective services, learn in classrooms that are guided by rigorous standards alongside their general education peers, and are equipped to make their own way as adults. The report, titled, "One System, Reforming Education to Serve all Students," includes recommendations that transform California's education policies and practices from early learning to special education financing. The Learning Disability Association of California (LDA-CA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer organization of parents, professionals, and adults with learning disabilities. Its purpose is to promote and support the education and general welfare of children and adults of potentially normal intelligence who manifest learning, perceptual, and/or behavioral handicaps.
